The internationally-loved pop hitmakers will perform at the conclusion of the Rays-Athletics game on Friday, August 5, a day prior to the Goo Goo Dolls postgame concert, which will make for a “Go-Go, Goo-Goo Weekend” at Tropicana Field. The Go-Go’s will be the fifth act to perform at Tropicana Field this season. Other acts scheduled to perform as part of the Rays Summer Concert Series, presented by Hess Express, are the Goo Goo Dolls (August 6 vs. OAK), Miranda Cosgrove (September 3 vs. BAL) and Miranda Lambert (September 24 vs. TOR). All concerts are free with the purchase of the show date’s game ticket. Wristbands for field access during the postgame concerts are complimentary to all full season ticket holders (see paragraph below) and are available for purchase by visiting raysbaseball.com. Tickets for these games and all other Rays home games are currently available via the Rays official website (raysbaseball.com), at the Tropicana Field Box Office, Rays Tampa Office & Pro Shop, all Ticketmaster locations and by calling 888-FAN-RAYS. The Go-Go’s – August 5, Rays vs. Oakland Athletics, 7:10 p.m. Since forming in 1978, The Go-Go’s made their mark with their first studio album Beauty and the Beat. With hits like “Our Lips are Sealed” and “We Got The Beat,” the album topped U.S. charts for six weeks and earned the group a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. The double-platinum-awarded Beauty And The Beat’s success helped set up other smash hits like “Vacation” in 1982 and “Talk Show” in 1984 during the group’s reign of chart and radio smashes. And, like any truly classic rock band, their enduring hits including “Vacation,” “Head Over Heels” and “Turn To You” live on in countless compilations, movie soundtracks, remakes and a string of very successful television commercials. Goo Goo Dolls – August 6, Rays vs. Oakland Athletics, 7:10 p.m. Since forming in 1986, the Goo Goo Dolls have evolved from a scrappy, punk-influenced trio into the platinum-selling, chart-topping act behind such radio staples as “Name,” “Slide” and “Here is Gone.” The group was enjoying great success when they released their fifth album, A Boy Named Goo, which went on to become one of the most successful rock albums of the mid-’90s. It was not until 1998 that the group sky-rocketed to stardom with the chart-topping single from the film City of Angels. “Iris” topped the charts for a record-breaking 18 weeks and ultimately earned the band three Grammy nominations and sealed their place in music history. The Goo Goo Dolls have recorded 14 Top 10 singles and sold nine million records in the United States. The Rays postgame concerts are produced by Ruth Eckerd Hall on the Road. |
