Reno Collier

July 28 - 31, 2011  |  $8.00 - $14.50  |  Side Splitters Comedy Club  |  813.960.1197

imageA former P.E. teacher, West Virginia native Reno Collier has endeared himself to a wide range of audiences from college students to church softball teams. With a contagious laugh and friendly, almost intoxicating demeanor, Reno's observations often find him recalling mishaps of his West Virginia cousins, his Scottish heritage, unruly in-laws and alien abductions.

Reno's journey began at the Punchline Comedy Club in Atlanta, GA where he tended bar to supplement his day job. One night he found himself on stage during the weekly open mic night. His unique outlook on life - mixed with a six-pack - was instantly popular and provided a platform to launch a career as a comedian.

Reno has built a reputation by selling out comedy clubs and colleges nationwide. In 2004 he joined Larry The Cable Guy on the hugely successful "2004 Tour of America".

Reno's other national tours look more like a comedian's wish list than a resume, including theater and arena tours with the legendary Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Ron White. In January 2007, he re-joined Larry The Cable Guy for his wildly successful arena tour currently spanning the United States and Canada.

Reno's past TV credits include NBC's "Late Friday", "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher", "The Martin Short Show", VH-1's "The List", and Comedy Central's "Premium Blend".

In 2005 and 2006, Reno headlined the "Comics on Duty" tour for American troops stationed in Iraq

Glenn Miller Comedy Hypnosis Show

August 3 & 4, 2011  |  8:00 PM  |  10.00+  |  Tampa Improv Comedy Club  |  813.864.4000

imageGlenn Miller's career, at birth, was pre-determined to be in show business. How can anyone be named Glenn Miller and not end up on the stage? Glenn was born in Brooklyn, NY where so many other outstanding talents emanated from. Woody Allen, Eddie Murphy, Jerry Seinfeld and the list goes on including Glenn Miller.

It was destined for Glenn to pursue an entertainment career because it was in his blood. His great grandfather, Jacob Manishor, was a notable orchestra leader in New York City at special events. Glenn's career started as a musician in rock bands. He eventually transitioned to radio where he became a disc jockey and talk show host. It wasn't long before he became a notable personality on K-Rock, Z-93, KXFM and KSMA all in California. Glenn's "glib tongue" opened the door to his being projected into doing commercials for Coca Cola, Budweiser, Ford Pontiac, Mazda... Glenn was also the comedy voice of the Miami Dolphins on Miami radio station WIOD.

Glenn's thirst for knowledge created his interest to delve into the mystiques of the mind. He studied hypnosis and it's ramifications. Although Glenn became a Clinical Hypnotherapist he decided to utilize Hypnosis as an entertaining, humorous show on a stage to make people laugh and have fun. His unique ability at this art became evident when he was booked to perform on the ships of Carnival, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as well as corporate events, comedy clubs, colleges and high schools throughout the U.S.

Glenn has hypnotized more than 5000 people in front of a collective live audience totaling almost 1 million people in a 5 year period!

From the moment Glenn Miller walks onto the stage the audience gets the feeling of mysticism. The audience quiets down and listens to each word he utters. Before you know it he has 20 volunteers from the audience on stage anxiously awaiting the opportunity to be hypnotized. His experience as a seasoned performer takes these individuals to places and actions that they would never do under ordinary circumstances. Their demonstration of antics that Glenn puts them through has the audience in hysterics.

It's all fun. It's all in good taste. The audience members who participate are the "Stars of the Show." The "Stars of the Show" will slowly drift into a hypnotic sleep. When they awaken they will never believe their friends when they are told that they danced like Irish River Dancers or they walked around like models from Victoria's Secret. When the most reserved man gets up and portrays Michael Jackson or a Sumo Wrestler he will think his friends are fibbing. Yes, all this fun and more are yours when you engage Glenn Miller, The Master of Comedy Hypnosis for your next event.

Having performed in all of the major comedy rooms across America, including The Laugh Factory Hollywood, The Comedy Store, all of the Improvs, numerous Funny Bones and Punchlines, and Caroline's in New York, Owen is one of America's most loved comedians. Owen has also been recognized around the country for his scene stealing role of "Bearcat" in MGM's film COLLEGE.

Additionally, Owen has been seen in such films as Little Man with the Wayans Brothers, Rebound, and Daddy ay Carewith Eddie Murphy

. Owen was always the class clown growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio. After high school, he got serious and enlisted in the Navy. He was chosen for the prestigious Presidential Honor Guard. "I was always smiling," he remembers, "I got yelled at for smiling all the time."

After leaving his ceremonial position, Owen became a military police officer at the Naval Installations on Coronado Island in San Diego, but he says he was too much of a pushover to be a cop. Owen only made two arrests in three years, but during that time he embarked on his true calling: stand-up comedy. One night while hanging with his service buddies, Owen worked up the nerve to go at a nightclub. After only a year of doing stand-up, he was named "Funniest Serviceman in America."

Owen continued doing stand-up in San Diego, and had a huge African American fan base. He went on to win the "Funniest Black Comedian in San Diego" contest. That led to his first big gig at the Comedy Store in Hollywood.

Then in July of 1997 he auditioned for BET's Comic View. Two appearances on the multi-cultural comedy showcase won him his own one-hour "GrandStand" show. At the end of the season he was selected from the year's four "Grandstanders" to be the host. Not only is Owen the only white man to have ever hosted Comic View, but he is the only white on-air personality the network has ever had.

After earning a degree in Corporate Organizational Communications from Northern Illinois University, Sebastian realized his passion for stand-up comedy and moved out to Los Angeles. While working as a waiter at a Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, Sebastian spent every free night performing at local clubs, bowling alleys and bars. Sebastian remembers being so bad his first stand-up act that the audience jeered him off the stage screaming “Sandman! Sandman!” referring to Showtime at the Apollo’s Howard Sims who would usher failed acts offstage with a shepherd’s crook. But, with a steadfast work ethic and impeccable comedic timing, Sebastian has risen through the ranks to become one of the most respected entertainers in the stand-up community today.

Aries Spears

August 25 - 28, 2011  |  $20.00+  |  Tampa Improv Comedy Club  |  813.864.4000

imageEver since Chicago native Aries Spears was 14 years old, he has been a force to be reckoned with in the comedy scene throughout America. His quick wit, charisma and ferociously aggressive style of comedy have earned him critical acclaim, high accolades, and above all, a busy schedule. From being a regular on Fox's Mad TV, starring in feature films, appearing on a number of national talk shows, and continually touring the country with his stand-up, Aries's talents are becoming recognized and appreciated throughout the entertainment industry.

As a principal cast member on Fox's hit sketch comedy show Mad TV, Aries brought a fresh, hip style to the already-edgy program from the third through the tenth season. The producers made full use of many of Aries's talents by calling on him frequently to create new hilarious characters and write sketches. Some of the many recurring characters that Aries is famous for on the show include: Belma Buttons, Bill Cosby, Jesse Jackson, Mike Tyson, Walter (Crackheads), Reggie (Erascist), Dollar Bill Montgomery, Shaquille O'Neal, The Klumps, Michael Jackson, Sisqo, Evander Holyfield, El Diablo Negro and more. Aries also boasts a number of uproarious impersonations on the show that include James Brown, Al Pacino, and his childhood idol Eddie Murphy. The Aries-branded sketch "Talkin' American" was Mad TV's most popular bit, keeping fans tuned in and boosting Mad's ratings impressively on Saturday night.

Aries has also found great success in the world of feature films. At the age of 17, after being spotted in a comedy club, Aries landed a part in the movie Home of Angels, which also starred Abe Vigoda and Sherman Helmsley, but never saw a theatrical release. He then appeared in Out-of-Sync, and portrayed Red Foxx in Warner Bros.'s Why Do Fools Fall In Love. In addition, Aries starred alongside John Leguizamo in TriStar's The Pest and delivered his most notable performance to date as Cuba Gooding, Jr.'s brother in Columbia's blockbuster hit Jerry Maguire.

Aries was born on April 3, 1975 in Chicago but grew up in New Jersey. He remembers at the young age of six being the funnyman of the household and impersonating family members at the dinner table during holidays. By age 14, Aries was belting out his fresh stylings in front of paying audiences at local clubs around his hometown. Shortly thereafter, he appeared on Russell Simmons's Def Comedy Jam on HBO and Showtime at the Apollo. The word was out about the prodigal superstar from then on, and in 1992, Aries moved to Los Angeles. He quickly landed a recurring role on NBC's A Different World, and was signed to a huge development deal at one of the major television studios. The following year, Aries found himself starring in the short-lived CBS series South of Sunset with former Eagles guitarist Glenn Frey. Although the series didn't last long, it did not discourage other networks from tapping Aries's talents for their projects, as he soon appeared in Crosstown Traffic and Brisco County, Jr. for Fox. Ultimately, Aries's fierce momentum landed him on Mad TV as a series regular, where he thrived for eight seasons.

Aries continues to spread his comedic wings with the development of feature film projects, which he is currently involved in writing. He is presently developing a feature project based on an original character that he created on Mad TV, as well as a thriller about a young black man immersed in hip-hop culture. Additionally, Aries has made appearances on many talk shows including: Loveline, Vibe, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Soul Train, and Late Friday. He has also lent his voice to an animated character on C-Bear and Jamal and had a recurring stint on Fox's The Best Damn Sports Show Period, where he created some of the show's funniest characters during his short time there.

Aries maintains a strong connection to his African roots and is involved in many charitable events, including a number of organizations that help abused women. He feels blessed to have been able to achieve everything that he has, but he in no way intends on stopping there. Given the extreme growing success rate of action comedies coming out of Hollywood, it's safe to say that Aries Spears will be in demand for quite some time.
